Memphis gets top point guard - again

image
Maybe losing Derrick Rose won’t hurt the Memphis Tigers next year so much after all. The superstar freshman point guard is headed to the NBA after leading John Calipari’s club to the brink of a NCAA championship, but Coach Cal already has his replacement: Tyreke Evans, the most valuable player of the McDonald's All-American game last month, announced he is going to Memphis. A three-time Pennsylvania state player of the year, Evans averaged 29 points per game as a senior and capped it off with a 21-point, 10-rebound performance in the McDonald's game, the top event for high school seniors. He seriously considered nearby Villanova as well as Texas. Evans won’t officially sign his letter of ...

Ex-McDonald’s All-American Taylor King has picked a new home after announcing he would leave Duke: Villanova. King, who had planned to visit Gonzaga and Southern Cal at the end of the month, committed on Sunday to transfer to Villanova after a weekend visit. He will enroll in June. By NCAA rule, King won't be eligible to compete for a year. "It just couldn't be a better fit for me," King said. "It wasn't about getting it over with. I wanted it. This gives me the best opportunity to start right away." King played 9.7 minutes for the Blue Devils this year. However, his minutes dwindled once the ACC season began. King registered 7.1 minutes per-game during ...

K-State’s Beasley to announce future Monday

image
Kansas State’s standout freshman Michael Beasley is expected to declare for the NBA draft during a press conference on Monday afternoon. If he does declare he’s turning pro, Beasley is expected by many to be the No. 1 overall draft pick. “I have no idea,,” Beasley’s mother, Fatima Smith, said. Family and friends insist Beasley has yet to make up his mind. However, KSU coach Frank Martin admitted that he doesn't anticipate having Beasley, who will likely be the first or second overall pick in the draft, back in the fold. Beasley averaged 26.2 points and 12.4 rebounds this year, and he regularly carried K-State on his back to lift the Wildcats to their first NCAA ...
