Fiorentina have had a less-than-spectacular season to this point. However, they may have found the right balance up top to begin wreaking havoc on defences in the Serie A. Adrian Mutu and Luca Toni have developed a true chemistry that is finally manifesting itself in league play.

Viola have outscored their opponents 6-1 in their last four matches, with three wins and one draw in that stretch. They sit in 11th in the table, yet are only 3 points away from vaulting to 6th position. Were it not for the 15-point penalty for their involvement in the match-fixing scandal, Viola would be pressuring for 3rd position and a Champions League spot.

Viola have been in good recent form, due in large part to forward play. Mutu saved Fiorentina's undefeated streak with a late goal from the penalty spot, pulling his side to a 1-1 draw. The previous match, a 2-0 victory over Empoli, saw both Mutu and Toni netting goals.

The success has prompted Mutu to voice his pleasure with the current situation at Fiorentina.

"Toni and I are the perfect couple, the squad supports us, and on the pitch we see the results of the situations tried during training," Mutu said.

Mutu has now reached the 12 goal mark in Serie A play, while Toni has 13, making them the most lethal combination in Italy right now.

In his first season at Fiorentina, Mutu is fitting right in. He impressed for Juventus in the 2005-2006 campaign, scoring 8 in all competitions, while seeing somewhat limited playing time. The Romania international made the jump to Viola hoping to make an impact, and has done just that.

On the other side, Luca Toni has continued to be the best finisher in all of Italy. His physical presence is daunting, and no defence has truly been able to shut the big man down thus far.

Toni is itching to do some damage in UEFA competition. He has scored 44 goals in his two seasons at Fiorentina.

Up next for Viola is Torino, where Luca's side are big favourites at -275 on inspin.com.

Torino ended a winless streak with a W in their last match, but do not stand much of a chance against charging Fiorentina.

Viola's strike force may be strengthened even further this summer, as teenager Arturo Lupoli has decided to leave Arsenal and sign a pre-contract agreement with Fiorentina.

The two strikers Viola have right now are doing the job, and will at the very least make the race for a Champions League spot very interesting.
