Two contenders who have not been able to find wins lately will meet up on Wednesday when the Atlanta Hawks finish up a six-game road trip at .500 and the Denver Nuggets try to avoid a three-game losing streak for the first time in two seasons.

Denver (37-20) knows all about long road trips like Atlanta is just finishing. They came back to the Pepsi Center for the first time in three weeks on Monday. After a successful 5-3 road trip, although it ended with two straight losses,  the Nuggets came home to face the Boston Celtics. The result was their worst home loss in 11 years. The defending champion Celtics flexed their muscle by powering themselves to a 114-76 win even without Kevin Garnett.

One of the league leaders in points with 103.2, the Nuggets were held to 37 in the first half and shot 34.7 percent, their second worst-shooting effort of the season. During their three-game losing streak, Denver is shooting 43.8 percent which is a notable downturn from their good road trip in which they shot 47.7 percent.

The Nuggets were missing Nene Hilario in Mondays game due to bruised right knee. The center leads the team with 7.9 rebounds per game. He is expected to miss Wednesdays game.

Atlanta (32-24) will not be too upset by missing out on the Nuggets leading rebounder. The Hawks have been out rebounded by 11 boards in four straight games. During Utahs 108-89 victory on Monday, Atlanta trailed on the boards 43-31. Joe Johnson scored 15 and showed signs of emerging from a shooting slump he has been mired in.

The Pepsi Center has not been the Hawks favorite place to visit as they have dropped three of their last four in Denver. The Nuggets prevailed 107-100 when they visited last, on January 23, 2008.
