Barry Melrose the next Lightning coach?

NHL Odds at Inspin. ESPN hockey analyst and former L.A. Kings coach Barry Melrose will become the next head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning, at least according to the Toronto Star.
The Star claims that new Lightning majority owner Oren Koules, who will take control of the team after the league’s June 18 Board of Governors meeting, is behind the hiring of Melrose, who is reportedly set to earn $2 million per season.
Now, the Lightning already have a coach in place in John Tortorella. Melrose admitted on Friday that he wanted to coach in the NHL again but said “nothing’s going on.”
“Every year, and including this year, more than one team has contacted me to see if I want to coach anymore,” said Melrose. “I work for ESPN and I’m very happy at ESPN.”
Tortorella has coached Tampa Bay since 2001, with the club winning the Stanley Cup in 2004. The Lightning finished 31-42-9 this past season, worst in the NHL, and will select first in the June entry draft.
