The Keystone State possibly boasts the best in-state rivalry in the NHL. The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers have met in several Stanley Cup Playoff series over the years, including last seasons Eastern Conference Finals, won by the Penguins. While Pittsburgh has shown the form that powered them to the Stanley Cup Finals a few months ago, Philadelphia has done no such thing and has struggled all season long.

The Flyers (5-6-3) won their last time out over the Islanders 3-1. This ended an ugly three game losing streak after a four game winning streak seemed to get Philadelphias season on track after a tough start. The Flyers will now travel across Pennsylvania to take on the Penguins (9-4-1) in a matchup that has not gone their way in recent years.

In addition to countering the Pens young stars of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the Flyers must now deal with rising star Jordan Staal.

Staal was instrumental in getting revenge in Detroit Tuesday night for the Red Wings beating the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals. Detroit held Staal without a point in the six-game finals. Going into the third period, the Red Wings were up 5-2, but then Staal came alive by scoring a hat trick in the third period to force overtime. He then assisted Ruslan Fedotenko in overtime to clinch the 7-6 stunning come from behind victory. If Staal has come alive, its bad news for Philadelphia who surrendered four goals in their five game series last spring.

The teams met for the first time on October 14 as the Penguins beat the Flyers 3-2 in overtime in Philadelphia.
