A brutal road trip has been just that for the Vancouver Canucks. For the western most team in professional sports, there is a lot of time spent on the road for the Canucks, but this trip is particularly tough, and it has cost them in the standings.

Vancouver (15-10-3) is in the midst of a seven-city tour that has taken them to Calgary, Columbus, Detroit, Minnesota and Colorado and concludes tonight in Nashville and Saturday, a little closer to home, in Edmonton. In the six games so far, Vancouver has taken one, 2-1 against the Wild. They did garner a point in their last game against the Avalanche when they fell in a shootout.

The Canucks can see a light at the end of the tunnel as the road trip is near its end and perhaps can take some solace in the fact that they recorded at least one point in their last two games after losing four straight in regulation. They also have good news in that they have seen star net-minder Roberto Luongo begin practicing with the team again and should be returning in the not-to-distant future from a groin injury suffered last month.

Tonight they will face the Predators (14-11-2), a team they have had recent dominance against by winning three straight in Nashville, four straight overall against the Predators and five out of the last six.

Nashville will look to regroup after the team saw its three-game winning streak blown up in a 6-3 road loss in St. Louis. The Predators, who are 7-3-1 at the Sommet Center, look to win their fourth straight game at home while the Canucks look to improve on their 1-4-1 road trip and 7-8-1 overall road mark.

One of Nashvilles home losses came on November 4 as Vancouver blanked them 4-0. The last time the Predators beat the Canucks was in November 2007, when they shut them out 3-0 in Nashville.
