Ducks deal with the aftermath of James Wisniewskis eightgame suspension
The Ducks will start to deal with the aftermath of James Wisniewskis eight-game suspension, which comes at the worst possible time given that they are hanging in the playoff picture by a thread.
But before they turned their attention toward the New York Islanders, there was the matter of addressing some comments made by Chicago coach Joel Quenneville on Wednesday night after Wisniewskis crushing hit on Brent Seabrook.
Asked what he thought of the play, Quenneville said, “You hit a guy without the puck, you can kill a guy.
Its the most dangerous hit in the history of the game.
And he tried to hurt him.”
After learning of the ruling on his defenseman, Ducks general manager Bob Murray chuckled about Quennevilles comments before offering a sharp retort.
“I played in Chicago for a long time,” Murray said.
“I live in the city of Chicago.
It used to be a black-and-blue town.
We didnt have whiners.
I strongly suggest Joel worries about his goaltending and stops trying to run the National Hockey League.”
Wisniewski himself chimed in, saying, “For him to call it the worst hit in the history of the game, its a little overboard.”
