Kobe Bryant told me after Lakers practice on Wednesday the torn ligament in his right wrist is completely behind him.

“I got through it,” Bryant said.

When I asked him if he would use the term “healed,” Bryant said: “Yes.”

Bryant said he stopped using the pregame injection that would numb the wrist to pain two games ago in Utah on Saturday night. He then played in Philadelphia on Monday night without the supportive tape he has used all season on the wrist. Without the tape, Bryant can return to his usual shooting mechanics with full follow-through, which is particularly helpful to him on 3-pointers.

“Ive got more flexibility on the shot,” Bryant said.

Alonzo Gees promotion to the starting lineup didnt come with the strongest endorsement.

“Didnt have anybody else,” Cavaliers coach Byron Scott said before Tuesdays game, referring to the fact that Anthony Parker (back), Daniel Gibson (neck) and Tristan Thompson (ankle) were not with the team against Miami in AmericanAirlines Arena.

But Gee came through with 17 points and played good defense against LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, and although the Cavs lost to the Heat, 107-91, Scott praised his new shooting guard afterward.

“I thought he played well,” he said. “We asked him to guard Wade at times. The other half of the time he had to guard LeBron. He still was able to give us 17 points. Overall on both ends of the floor, I thought he played pretty well.”

Are you over LeBron James leaving the Cavaliers for Miami?

I am.

OK, its not like Jim Evans, who posted this on my Facebook page: “Did he play in Cleveland?” Its more like James Kelley, who posted: “Ive moved on, but still rooting against him. Rivalries and enemies are a part of sports.”

The best part of the season is the shocking revelation that is 19-year-old prized point guard Kyrie Irving. The rookie has given Cavaliers fans something to cheer for … rather than just hoping James and his Miami Heat again freeze in the playoffs.

Antawn Jamison was joking about his sore right Achilles in the locker room after the Cavaliers 107-91 loss to the Heat on Tuesday night at AmericanAirlines Arena.

He said he tweaked it twice during the game, but he didnt seem to think it would be a problem going forward.

“Thats what happens with old age, he said with a smile.

The 35-year-old Jamison is something of a lightning rod for the Cavaliers. Some fans think hes too old to contribute. Some think he takes too many shots. Some want the Cavs to trade him and his expiring contract to a team for either young players or draft choices.

Its possible that could happen, although Jamison has said he thought it was more likely last season before he got hurt. But those who want him gone just dont realize how valuable he is.

When push came to shove, Byron Scott decided to do neither when it came to lobbying for Anderson Varejao or Kyrie Irving to make the All-Star team as reserves. The NBA will announce the reserves on TNT on Thursday night.

“I lobby enough in the media,” Scott said. “I dont make calls. I dont send videos. I dont do all that. I think the way especially Andy has played speaks for itself. My lobbying is telling the truth. I think [Varejao] is definitely deserving. I think Kyrie is starting to get the national attention now, like most first-round picks are. Other than that, I just try to be honest and tell them what I think.

“It would be great if they both made it, but I dont think thats going to happen.”

The Timberwolves survived without suspended star Kevin Love on Tuesday night, beating Sacramento 86-84 at Target Center in a game that was notable for just who tweeted and who didnt all evening.

While Love sat home providing commentary in 140-character dispatches from his Minneapolis riverside condo, his replacement, rookie forward Derrick Williams, this time spoke for himself only with his play.

While teammate Nikola Pekovic carried the Wolves to a threshold of victory with a dominating performance over Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, Williams took his team the rest of the way by providing the crucial, go-ahead three-pointer from the right corner that busted open a tied game with 57 seconds remaining.

Williams shot provided the lead, and then his team held on tight until Sacramento forward Donte Greenes potential winning three-pointer rattled off the rim and bounced away at the buzzer.

Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman has broken convention this season by starting point guards Ricky Rubio and Luke Ridnour in the same backcourt.

So, how about three instead of two?

Adelman played all three point guards — adding J.J. Barea to the mix — at the end of Tuesdays 86-84 victory over Sacramento, just like he did in the Wolves previous two games. He did so because he wanted yet another ball handler and high-percentage free-throw shooter on the floor with the lead.

“I just think those guys are really effective,” Adelman said. “When you have Ricky with the ball in his hands, now hes kicking it to Luke or J.J. When you have guys who can hurt the other team, its harder for them to guard us. If we have those guys on the court, its a lot harder on the other team.”

Who was that wearing No. 14 for the Timberwolves?

That No. 14 fellow had 23 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. He schooled hotshot young center DeMarcus Cousins. And once he even stole the ball at midcourt and drove for a layup. My roster sheet says No. 14 is Nikola Pekovic. Really? Im surprised.

“I surprise myself a little bit how I run,” big Pek said after the Timberwolves 86-84 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.

Earlier this season I compared Pekovic to a tree. And not in a good way. It wasnt that at 6-11 Pekovic was tall like a tree. Or that he projected a certain calmness, a certain serenity like a tree. No, I was suggesting that Peks mobility was very treelike. So was his nimbleness. I watched a couple of Ricky Rubio passes bounce off his head. I watched him swing to his right like a big ol rusty gate, only to leave the basketball behind.

Steve Nashs 38th birthday began Tuesday morning with a man in a pink gorilla suit serenading him while playing a guitar at the Suns breakfast meeting.

That act was hard to top, but Nash pulled it off, making a game-winning shot that got a gorilla off the Suns back: their failure to win three games in a row this season.

Nash broke a tie with a running 5-foot bank shot, and the Suns lead stood when Milwaukee failed to get off a shot on the games last possession, giving the Suns a 107-105 victory at Bradley Center.

The Suns (11-14) return home with their first three-game win streak of the season, accomplishing the feat on their fourth game in a five-night span that covered three time zones. They also did it after losing a 21-point second-half lead.

Michael Redd walked through his own Bizarro World on Tuesday.

Redd, an 11-year resident of Milwaukee, checked into a downtown hotel for the first time, staying in a place he knew only for lunches with Bucks owner Sen. Herb Kohl.

Redd, the one-time face of the franchise, took a bus to the Bradley Center rather than driving there and encountered a slew of familiar faces whose greetings made him feel special to be back. So at ease, Redd then turned from the security entrance to head for the locker room.

“Mike, your locker room is the other way,” Bucks equipment manager Mike Sergo said, directing Redd away from the home-team locker room and toward the visitors.
