Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay told Yahoo! Sports that the team would consider a quarterback such as Stanfords Andrew Luck with the top pick in the draft.

The Colts are 0-5 this season as they struggle without four-time MVP Peyton Manning, who is out following neck surgery and could miss the entire season.

Indianapolis, which has made nine straight playoff appearances, is one of three winless teams and could wind up with the top pick in next years draft. That likely will be Luck, who would have been the first pick in the 2010 draft but chose to return to Stanford for his senior season.

“Guys like that come along so rarely,” Irsay told the website. “Even if that means that guy sits for three or four years, youd certainly think about taking him.”

In 2005, the Green Bay Packers selected quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the first round, even though they had superstar Brett Favre at quarterback. Rodgers eventually replaced Favre and led the Packers to a Super Bowl title last season.

“You see what Green Bay did with (Brett) Favre and (Aaron) Rodgers and youd like to be able to do the same thing,” Irsay said.
