Dwight Howard: Let the Deals Begin
By Inspin.com on Nov 30, 2011

There's no question that Dwight Howard is the Orlando Magic's powerhouse, there's not much that the three time reigning NBA Defensive player of the year hasn't done while playing for the Magic, except winning an NBA title.

The lockout is done, thank goodness; and merrily, games will begin on Christmas day. This means one thing for teams: that they'll be scrambling to the chase to fill up their ranks with the best players they can get.

And as for Dwight Howard is concerned, it's clear that there are plenty of teams just itching to get their hands on him. It's also likely that Orlando Magic will look towards trading Howard in order to snatch new talents and because come next year he'll become a free agent.

There's also the fact that "Superman” is at a crossroads and looking to expand his horizon. "There's more you can do in a bigger place.” Howard said in a recent interview with Esquire Magazine. "I'm stuck in a tough position because I feel like right now, where I'm at, I've done so much. And I just don't know what else I can do.”

Where, oh where shall he go?

The word around the grapevine is that the Lakers, the Knicks and the Clippers are hot for Dwight. But it's the Nets that seem to be putting their skin in the game to get him to New Jersey.

Net's owner Mikhail Prokhorov is prepared to offer a trade package that includes center Brook Lopez and two future first round picks to entice Orlando to make the trade. ESPN.com reported that to sweeten the deal, New Jersey would also offer to buy forward Hedo Turkoglu's contract worth under $35 million.

The Brooklyn bound Nets are hoping to pair up Howard with Deron Williams; but even if they do get their way, things could end up going south for the Nets if both players opt out after the 2011-2012 season and become free agents.

It's hard to know how this story will play out; teams have been allowed to start speaking to agents at 9 a.m. today but won't be cleared to start signing deals until December 9th,

I for one will be interested to see what offers will be placed on the table and from there, let the chips fall where they may.
