NFL notebook: Bengals lose Hall for season
By Inspin.com on Nov 15, 2011

The Columbus Dispatch, Tuesday November 15, 2011 4:41 AM

Cornerback Leon Hall is out for the season because of a torn Achilles tendon, leaving the Cincinnati Bengals' secondary in flux heading into a pivotal game. Hall suffered the injury during a 24-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Tests after the game found that the tendon had detached from the bone. He'll have surgery later this week.

The Bengals hope that Adam "Pacman" Jones can play on Sunday at Baltimore. He has missed the past two games because of a pulled hamstring.

Browns' Hillis won't play again on Sunday

Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis will miss his fifth straight game on Sunday because of a hamstring injury, and safety T.J. Ward will sit out for a second straight week because of a foot sprain. Coach Pat Shurmur believes Hillis will be able to come back at some point this season, and there is no plan to place him on injured reserve.

Packers rout Vikings

Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdown passes, and Randall Cobb ran a punt back 80 yards for a score to lead the Green Bay Packers to a 45-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings last night. The Packers ran their record to 9-0 and remain the NFL's lone unbeaten team. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was held to 51 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown.

Injury news

• Houston quarterback Matt Schaub is out indefinitely because of a "significant" right-foot injury and will miss the Texans' next game in two weeks. The Texans have a bye week, and coach Gary Kubiak said Matt Leinart will start at Jacksonville on Nov. 27.

• Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel could miss the rest of the season after suffering what coach Todd Haley called a "significant" injury to his throwing hand against Denver. Tyler Palko is expected to start on Monday night at New England.

• Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick suffered two broken ribs on the second play of the Eagles' 21-17 loss to Arizona on Sunday. He didn't tell anyone that he was hurt and played through the pain, but his status for this week is uncertain.

• Denver tailback Knowshon Moreno suffered a tear in his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Kansas City on Sunday and is out for the season.
