Week 14 is history and so are the Eagles’ chances of making the playoffs. The intensity of the games is reaching a fever pitch. Insiders, this is where the rubber meets the road and this week’s picks are laser focused.

•    Packers win 46-16 to get to 13-0…and bookmakers cry the blues after another losing week.
•    Arizona squeaks by the 49ers 21-19…and has now won 3 in a row and 5 of 6.
•     New York scores two touchdowns late to stun the Cowboys in Dallas...and Eli sets a Giants single season passing record with 4.105 yards.

The Chiefs will face the Packers this weekend with a new head coach calling the shots. Todd Haley was fired after a very tough 37-10 loss to the New York Jets which dropped Kansas City to 5-8 on the year. He has been replaced on an interim basis with Romeo Crennel who assumed all duties this past week.

Crennel wants to start either Orton or Stanzi in place of the ineffective Tyler Palko.  He will also continue to run the defense in order to keep a little continuity as they finish out the season.

Change is good in the NFL and I feel players will respond this weekend to the new head coach. Crennel said he is interested in turning this into a permanent head coach position. How can he accomplish that? Easy, by WINNING.  “I would like to be a head coach again and show that I can get it done.” Said Crennel, who was 24-40 in four seasons with the Browns. “I know how to get it done, and I think the experience from the first time will make me better the next time around.”

Expect the Chiefs to come out at home re-energized. It’s been a difficult season filled with injuries and disappointment, but this weekend will be different. They will play hard enough to impress their new interim coach and do just enough to cover the 14.5 point spread vs. a Packers team more interested in staying healthy than undefeated. Houston Defensive guru, Wade Philips, will be absent for the first time all season. This will have an impact on players who will be lethargic after locking up that elusive playoff spot. Also, I am not 100% sold on T.J. Yates, who has not proven he can be consistent week in and week out. Expect a ‘Texas-size’ letdown of epic proportions. Tennessee Titans (7-6, 3-3 away) vs. Indianapolis Colts (0-13, 0-6 home).

Expect a spirited Colts team to show-up this weekend at home. The players are angry and this is their last opportunity for a much-needed home win this season. The ‘Suck for Luck’ is all but guaranteed and they can now focus on winning at least one game. Tennessee may have to go with Locker this weekend if Hasselbeck’s calf injury doesn’t improve.
