Paterno announced his retirement at the end of the season earlier Wednesday. Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary will not be in attendance at Saturday's home contest against Nebraska 'due to multiple threats' made against him, Penn State athletics said in a statement this evening.

In the wake of a child sex crimes scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, McQueary had been the only PSU staff member involved in a 2002 incident to have retained his job. McQueary testified to a Grand Jury that he witnessed Sandusky sexually assaulting a young boy in a Penn State locker room.

Coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier were each ousted by the school's Board of Trustees last night. Athletic director Tim Curley is on paid leave, and vice president of business and finance Gary Schultz stepped down from his post.

Paterno and Spanier were cleared of any wrongdoing, but came under fire for not reporting the incident to authorities. The school's full release on McQueary: "Due to multiple threats made against Assistant Coach Mike McQueary, the University has decided it would be in the best interest of all for Assistant Coach McQueary not to be in attendance at Saturday's Nebraska game."

How do you think Joe Paterno’s absence will affect Penn’s game against Nebraska on Saturday?
