By John Moore / inspin.com With an identical record against each other (4-7) the Seattle Seahawks will be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night football, both teams fighting it out to remain relevant in their respective divisions. The Seahawks will host the Eagles at CenturyLinks Field December 1st.
About the Seattle Seahawks
Last season under Pete Carroll command the Seahawks manage to be a playoff team, however the same results don’t look possible for Carroll this year.
Sometimes this is normal for a team that’s trying to develop a winning formula, where you get shifting of personnel you must expect steps forward and steps backwards along the way. The one thing Seattle can count on is their defense, which is a good solid defense -even after the last quarter mishap against the Redskins-.
Now, the same cannot be said about the Seahawks offense, it’s no secret that the lack of a good quarterback maybe the difference between a win and a loss but they will have to make do with Tarvaris Jackson for the rest of the season, this is not to say they shouldn’t get a .500 finish of the season if they come up with a win tomorrow.
Seattle is 3-1-1 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against the NFC, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games.
About the Philadelphia Eagles
Disappointment falls short as a word for The Philadelphia Eagles this season. A team that had great expectations is now looking to win as -one of the biggest flop of the year award-. Losses in three of the past four weeks have left the defending NFC East champion Eagles in a perilous position in regards to extending their streak of postseason appearances to four straight years.
Michael Vick is injured and it has been officially announced by the Eagles that he will not play on Thursday night game. This will be his third missed game in a row due to broken ribs.
This means Vince Young will make his third start in a row at quarterback. Young completed 26 of 48 passes for 400 yards, one touchdown and one interception against New England. In two starts, he is 49-85 for 658 yards, three touchdowns and five interceptions.
Also wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is still out due to his hamstring injury against the Patriots. This makes tomorrow’s game an uphill battle for the Eagles, who must win if they still hope to reach playoffs.
Philadelphia is 7-2 against the spread following a double digit home loss, 4-10 against the spread in their last 14 games overall, and 0-5 against the spread against a team with a losing record. The road team has covered six in row in this series.
