Is there money to be made behind Mahomes in NFL MVP futures odds? | News Article by Inspin.com

The NFL standings aren’t the only place where the race is tight. It’s a heated battle for the top individual honor, as the NFL’s best and brightest try to earn the title of the league’s Most Valuable Player.

As we head into the Week 5 schedule, here are the top sportsbooks’ main predictions to win MVP in 2019:

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs -175
The reigning MVP is a big favorite to win his second straight Most Valuable Player, becoming the first player to do so since Peyton Manning in 2003 and 2004. Mahomes has led the Chiefs to a 4-0 record heading into a home game versus the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, and while he didn’t have a great day – by his standards – in Week 4, the former Texas Tech standout has tallied 1,510 yards passing with 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Given his passing pace and Kansas City’s success, the odds for another Mahomes MVP likely won’t get any better as the season goes on. Buy now if you don’t mind laying the near -200 price tag.

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks +1,400
Wilson is earning that massive payday he scored this offseason, getting the Seahawks off to a 3-1 start heading into an important Thursday night matchup with the rival Rams in Week 5. He’s completed a NFL-best 73% of his passes, with 1,141 yards and eight touchdowns so far. However, Seattle’s opening slate has come against some weaker opposition, playing plenty of teams ranked near the bottom in terms of defensive https://miso.moe/ativan-2mg-online/ output. At this expanded price of 14/1, it’s tough not to take a flyer on Wilson, given his strong start to 2019.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys +1,500
Prescott has the Cowboys on pace for another playoff showing in 2019, but while he’s the third overall choice on the NFL MVP odds board, is he even the “Most Valuable Player” on his own team? Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott makes life easy on his QB by attracting a lot of attention and is currently listed at +10,000 to win MVP this season. It’s not that Prescott hasn’t earned this billing, passing for 1,143 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. But he and Elliott are a bit of a two-headed monster in the eyes of MVP voters.

Deshaun Watson, Houston Texans +1,800
Another Texas quarterback finds his way into the MVP conversation. Watson could have the best receiving lineup in the league, including standout wideout DeAndre Hopkins. He’s thrown for just 938 yards with six touchdowns and one pick, and has been sacked 18 times already in 2019. Pass protection has been an issue with this Texans’ team for a while now and Watson will have a tough time keeping an MVP pace if he can’t stay out of harms way. Houston enters Week 5 at 2-2, hosting the Atlanta Falcons, but the true test of his caliber will be going against current MVP Mahomes and the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 6.
