A 'Super Bowl Hangover' for L.A. could open up value in the odds to win NFC West | News Article by TheBestPerHead.com

The Los Angeles Rams are the reigning and defending NFC champs and sit as the odds-on-favorite to reclaim the NFC West title. The 2019 path could be tougher, with plenty of interesting angles within the division.

Here’s a look at the best online betting sites odds to win the NFC West during the 2019 NFL season:

Los Angeles Rams -140
Football bettors were left with the thought of the Rams getting handled by the Patriots in the Super Bowl, taking away some of the major improvements this team made in 2018. Sean McVay will use that Big Game bust as motivation and has much of the same roster back for 2019. Running back Todd Gurley is the wild card: are his failing knees up to the challenge again? McVay can’t take any chances and will be leaning more on Jared Goff and the passing game, which should get a notable boost with the return of slot man Cooper Kupp. As for the L.A. defense, is begins and ends with Aaron Donald – perhaps the best player in all football. Dante Fowler will benefit from his first full season with the Rams and veteran signee Clay Matthews will benefit this young team on and off the field.

Seattle Seahawks +280
A bet on the Seahawks to win the NFC West is a bet on a “Super Bowl Hangover” for the Rams. Seattle continues an “out with the old, in with the new” approach and maintains its winning ways. Russell Wilson doesn’t get lumped in the same elite category as some of the bigger-name QBs (at least he gets paid like one), but this guy could win MVP every single season. Wilson gets support from a run-heavy playbook, featuring RBs Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. Seattle is hoping the linebacker tandem of Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright can be the glue to bonds together what is a young and inexperienced defense. If the stop unit faulters, the Seahawks may not have the offensive firepower to make up for it.

San Francisco 49ers +400
A close look at the Niners futures odds and you know oddsmakers are playing it cool with San Francisco in 2019. The 2018 team was riddled with injuries to top performers, leaving the 49ers to win only four games. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was among those injured and returns to action with big expectations (along with a revamp receiving corps) in Year 3 under Kyle Shanahan. In the wake of all those injuries, some potential stars came out: RB Matt Breida and TE George Kittle. With the return of RB Jerick McKinnon and the addition of RB Tevin Coleman, San Francisco has a three-headed monster in the backfield. The defense has some holes but does have two disruptors in rookie Nick Bosa and Dee Ford on the line and Richard Sherman remains the rock in the secondary. If you’re value shopping the NFC West futures, San Francisco is a wise investment at 4/1 odds.

Arizona Cardinals +2,500
It’s nearly a complete overhaul in the desert, where new head coach Kliff Kingsbury traded away former first-round pick QB Josh Rosen to make way for No. 1 overall pick and Heisman winner Kyler Murray. Murray fits Kingsbury’s “Air Raid” offense, which will still included veteran WR Larry Fitzgerald and RB David Johnson. Vance Joseph is the new defensive coordinator and making a switch to the 3-4, looking to his strong secondary to help generate “coverage sacks” for some potent pass rushers in the front seven – namely Chandler Jones. Funny enough, perhaps the key weapon for the Cardinals defense is punter Andy Lee, who routinely pins opponents deep within their on end of the field.
