Big East winner, West Virginia Mountaineers (9-3) and ACC champion, Clemson Tigers (10-3) will meet in a high voltage showdown at this year’s Orange Bowl at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Game Overview:
West Virginia closed the regular season with a 9-3 record, winning three straight games to finish with a share of the Big East crown and its third BCS bowl bid in school history. West Virginia is appearing in its 31st bowl game and is currently 13-17 in all-time postseason play. The Mountaineers have lost their last two bowl games, with a 33-21 loss to Florida State in the Gator Bowl in 2010 and a 23-7 setback to NC State in the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl. West Virginia also lost to Clemson 27-7 in the Gator Bowl on Dec. 30, 1989, in the only previous meeting.
Clemson went 10-3 on the regular season (best record since 1990), knocking off four top-25 schools, and tying for second-most in the nation this season. The Tigers also won the ACC championship with a concise 38-10 victory over Virginia Tech in the title game. In the all-time in postseason games, the Tigers are 16-17 and have lost four of their last five bowl games, including a 31-26 decision to South Florida in last year's Meineke Car Care Bowl. This is the team's fourth trip to the Orange Bowl and its first appearance since 1981, when the Tigers reached its only national title with a 22-15 victory over Nebraska.
