Game Overview
The 76ers (12-6) will try to avoid losing back-to-back games for the first time this season when they host the Charlotte Bobcats this Friday night at the Wachovia Center.
The Sixers are coming off their worst performances of the season, losing 97-90 in overtime to the New Jersey Nets at the Wells Fargo Center. Due to this unexpected loss, the 12-6 Philadelphia 76ers will need to bounce back and score a victory this before the schedule gets tougher.
Luckily for them, the Sixers now have a great chance to redeem themselves and consolidate as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference when they face the worst performing squad in the NBA: The Charlotte Bobcats.
After winning nine of 10 games and ranking second in points allowed (85.8 per game), the Sixers have now lost three of five games and surrendered 95.4 points-per-game. A factor that has made the Sixers more vulnerable against opponents is having top centers Spencer Hawes and Nik Vucevic sit out with injuries. Hawes has been out the last five games with an Achilles injury, and his backup, Nikola Vucevic, has missed the last two with a quad strain. Both Hawes and Vucevic are day-to-day.
The Bobcats, meanwhile, have the worst record in the NBA at 3-16, along with the league's worst road record at 1-9. Charlotte lost six consecutive games, including a 75-92 loss vs. the lowly Washington Wizards in their last game. The team is also averaging a league-worst 85.0 points since Jan. 6 and could be without its top two scorers Gerald Henderson and D.J. Augustin on Friday. Henderson (15.4 ppg) missed Wednesday’s game with a sore back while D.J. Augustin (13.6 ppg) sat for the second straight game with a toe injury. Augustin has already been ruled out for Friday while Henderson will be a game-time decision.
