At first glance, the Monday Night Football showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots is definitely a no brainer. The former UFL and CFL player, Tyler Palko, will make his official NFL start game this Monday Night when the Chiefs visit Gillette Stadium to face the AFC East-leading Patriots. For most bettors, the fact the Pats will face an inexperienced QB during tonight’s game turns them into an attractive and easy pick.

Odds have New England as main favorite to win this game. The Patriots, who have won four straight against the Chiefs in Foxborough, currently stand as 16 ½ point favorites to beat the Chiefs. New England is also coming from a consistent 37-16 road victory against the New York Jets, breaking a two loss streak and consolidating as AFC East leaders with a 6-3 record.

In the other hand, things don’t look so favorable for Kansas City.  Last week, the Chiefs suffered a seven-point home loss at the hands of Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos. On top of that, Kansas also lost quarterback Matt Cassel for the rest of the season.  Cassel was replaced by backup QB Tyler Palko, who finished last week game with 5 complete passes and 47 yards. Despite his lack of experience, Palko said he's mentally and physically prepared for the challenge.

Kansas City has more problems than its relatively inexperienced offense leader.  Over the last two games, the team has only been able to score a total of 13 points per game against the Dolphins (Ranked 20th) and the Broncos (Ranked 18th).  The Chiefs also average only 8 points per game in their five losses, and 25.3 points during their four-victories (Vs. the Vikings, Colts, Raiders and Chargers).

But while the Chiefs are hoping Palko can do a respectable job against New England defense, the odds, however, are clearly against them. The betting action on this game shows a unilateral tendency favoring the Pats, with a large majority of the bets being placed on New England against the spread.  While the money lines vary from site to site and casino to casino, the Patriots are listed on most sites at least -1000, while the Chiefs are at least +675. On WagerWeb.com, the Patriots are -1300 – meaning you would have to bet $1,300 dollars to win $100. The Chiefs are +850 – meaning you would win $850 for every $100 bet on Kansas City. The Over/Under is 46.5, with 71% of the action going over, and only 28% of the public betting on the under. Based on the odds and available information, bettors are expecting the Pats to crush Kansas in tonight’s game, and even when there’s a percentage of bettors willing to put their cash on the underdog, there’s no evidence the injury-plagued Kansas City has any chances to stop the Pats at their home stadium, especially when considering that New England has only lost one time in their last 32 regular-season home games.
