Will the 2011 Green Bay Packers have a Perfect Season?
By Inspin.com on Dec 13, 2011

by Dave Zamzack - Inspin Contributor

After a stunning 46-16 victory last weekend vs. the Oakland Raiders, Coach Mike McCarthy and the Green Bay Packers continue their quest for the national title as they move closer to finish the season with a perfect record. Sunday’s victory over the Oakland Raiders represents the 19th straight victory for the Packs, dating back to last season.  The Green Bay Packers are currently 13-0 with only three games left on their schedule:

Sun, Dec 18 @ Kansas City Chiefs (5-8 and 4th in AFC West)
Sun, Dec 25 vs Chicago Bears (7-6 and 3rd in NFC North)
Sun, Jan 1 vs Detroit Lions (8-5 and third in the NFC North)

Since the NFL and AFL merged in 1970, only three other teams have reached week 14 holding a 13–0 record: the 1998 Denver Broncos; the 2005 Indianapolis Colts, and the 2009 New Orleans Saints. However, all teams lost the fourteenth game and at least two of their final three games.   1998 Broncos (14-2) and 2009 Saints (13-3) went on to win the Super Bowl. The 2005 Colts finished the season 14–2, but lost their first game in the postseason to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who ended as Super Bowl XL champions. Now the Packers have the chance to trump every previous Super Bowl-winning team in league history, including the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the only undefeated team in the Super Bowl era.

But regardless of whether the Packs finish the season with a perfect record or not, Green Bay still has a great chance to score another victory when they visit the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. While we wait to see if Green Bay has what it takes to become the only 19-0 team in NFL history, let’s have a look to the odds and stats for their next game:
