Edmonton Oilers vs Colorado Avalanche Betting Preview | News Article by Inspin.com

The Edmonton Oilers will travel to Denver to face the Colorado Avalanche for the second time this season.

In their first matchup, the Avalanche beat the Oilers 3-2 in overtime.

The Oilers have 67 points and are in the first Wild Card spot. However, they can potentially move into third place in the Pacific Division with a win.

On the other side, the Avalanche are in third place in the Central Division with 63 points. That may sound good, but they are only a few points outside of the Playoff race. They need to win this game.

The Oilers are coming off a 5-4 shootout loss to the New York Rangers. Edmonton scored four first period goals, but their offense stalled from that point on. They were up 4-1 after the first period, but their lead had dwindled to 4-2 in the second period.

The Rangers went on to score two third period goals and send it to overtime. After no one scored in the overtime period, a long shootout ensued. The Rangers won after six rounds and left Edmonton victorious.

As I am writing this, the Avalanche are yet to play their Saturday game against the St. Louis Blues. Their most recent game was on Wednesday against the Minnesota Wild. It was a 3-2 win in regulation. The Avalanche were in control for most of the game and had a 3-1 lead going into the third quarter.

Things got interesting with a little under six minutes left, though. Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov cut the Colorado lead to one, but the Avalanche held off the Wild the rest of the way.

Nathan MacKinnon earned the first star for his one-goal, one-assist game, and goaltender Alexander Georgiev earned the second star after saving 41 of 42 shots.

The Oilers are on the road, but will win this game. They are much healthier than the Avalanche and will have one more day of rest than them. I realize they have not been playing excellent hockey over the last week, but they are entering this game in a stronger position.

Bet on Edmonton.

My Prediction: Oilers 4, Avalanche 3

The INSPIN simulation model, which simulates every NHL game thousands’ of times, is up +38.5 units over the last three years. We have released 388 total games with 209 WINS and 179 losses ATS for a win % of 53.87%. A $100 bettor of our NHL would have netted a profit of $3,850 and, a $1,000 bettor would have won $38,500 just on the NHL picks.
